Loudest was Blue Cheer at The Western Front. I thought it was strange when they nailed the drums to the floor. Later I discovered that by laying flat on the floor most of the carnage passed over.
Grand Funk RR and AC/DC round out the worst of it. I departed both shows due to fear of hearing loss. They sounded great sitting curbside.
Always looked foreward to hearing the sound systems at Dead shows. Pure, clean, power. After that bug bit 'em, nothing else ever compared.

Blue Cheer

My oldest brother attended shows in the mid to late 60s in Chicago. Acts such as Hendrix, Blue Cheer and the Dead at venues such as the Kinetic Playground and the Electric Theatre. Blue Cheer sounds sorta like an Iron Butterfly take on The Cream. Certainly influenced Savoy Brown and Foghat.
